This winter, Oslo has experienced its heaviest snowfall for 20 years or so. This brings disruption to transport and generally keeps people indoors. It also means less food for the polar bears, which are drawn in to the city from the surrounding forests to scavenge for food. The Norwegian tourism authorities like to keep a lid on this, and any bear packs are swiftly moved on by authorities in a safe and humane manner. Late at night, however, the bears can still be seen roaming the streets.
